Entry # 6 - Educational System of ICTHS

Information and Communication Technology High School or ICTHS is a school found the heart of of San Fernando, Pampanga in Sindalan. It also happened to be my alma mater, nothing makes me more proud to say that because I know first hand the quality of education that the school offers.

The school mostly uses the English language, occasionally Filipino and Kapampangan in other subjects and casual conversations. The school offers Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS). Even the school is public and the government funds it, it maintains a standard.  Incoming grade 7 students undergo two written tests and one final interview. Once studying the students should maintain an 85% average and no grade should be lower than 80 in any quarter or they will be candidates for deliberation. In the SHS department, they only offer the STEM track. The school offer elective subject too like Journalism for 8th graders, Analytic Geometry for 9th graders, and Calculus and Mandarin Language for 10th graders. Since the school is and ICT school, it promotes the use of technology in learning. Cellular phones, tablets, and laptops are allowed insidie the school which is unusual compared to other schools. Entry # 7 - Discipline and Procedures

Wong's focal point in this lecture were discipline and procedure inside the classroom. Discipline is just something that comes natural when a good classroom manager takes over the class. It is how the students generally behave inside the classroom. On the flip side, procedure is how the teacher executes his strategies and techniques inside the classroom, more of like the flow and step by step process. Implementing discipline inside the classroom has should have some sort of a reward or merit if they have done the task or activity well or a penalty or demerit if they have done the task wrong. This will reinforce the minds of the students to exert their very bests when doing an activity inside the classroom. Entry # 10 - Teaching as an Art

There is this age old question: Is teaching an Art or Science? Actually, they are both correct. Teaching can be art and science. In this blog, I will talk about teaching as an art and how it affect the teaching-learning process. Teaching is considered art because teachers are finding creative ways to incorporate methods and strategies in their everyday discussion. These teaching methods and strategies helps the teacher to develop a personal style in teaching. You can compare teaching styles to a chef's signature dish, it is like looking at the product but what you see is the creator. In addition, teaching enhances certain skill set through experience.
